If you can't beat them...

Cow Parsley.

An extremely busy day running round gathering items and ordering wood to take up to Katkatkat on Thursday.  We did a round tour of the district including lunch at the studio.  The called in at the Lodge for more things we were taking up to Edinburgh.  After that we felt the need for some relaxation so we continued on to Askham.

The weather held as we strolled along the bank of the River Lowther before stopping at a little island where they used to have fly fishing in the Lowther Show.  The intention was to take moving water shots but I was side tracked by the Cow Parsley and other plants.

This shot is of Cow Parsley and what I think is a Soldier Beetle.  As kids we knew these as "Blood Suckers", heaven only knows why as there isn't a single bit of evidence to suggest that name.  Another interesting sighting was Mint.  I haven't had time to check if there is a wild mint or it was an escapee from further up stream but it was growing extremely well in among the gravel at the river side.
