Wednesday 1 August 2012: 301 STEPS Daylight/Tungsten

The weirdest stretch of road ever. At daytime it's just like any street anywhere, but at night everything changes into a magical wonderland.

From far you can already see a certain stretch of the road is bathing in an extraterrestrial intense blue light as if it were daytime in the middle of the night.

Even in mid summer it feels like it has just snowed, but only for a very local 241 meters (or exactly 301 steps as the project by artists Arno van der Mark (1949) and Jan van Grunsven (1959) is called.)

Beyond that point the world is normal again and the fact you can see both worlds in one viewpoint makes it so special.

As a subject it fits my surreal Black, Blue & White approach to a 'T', because it enhances the 'Blues' effect I wish to stipulate.

The only downside is that you can't see what I saw at dawn today, so here'e a link to a pretty simular picture on flickr.
