Wednesday 1 August 2012: General Napier's fascinator
One of the more eccentric plans to be rolled out over the Olympics is the application of head gear to some of London's more formal monuments.
I hope General Charles James Napier had a sense of humour. It reminded me of so many "Rag week" pranks when orange traffic cones make a regular appearances on top of statues.
Other statues to have the treatment include the painting of Admiral Nelson's hat, plus the addition of a shiny gold crown, not only to King George IV, but also, quite sweetly, to his horse.
