Thursday 2 August 2012: Greybeard
I've been a bit indecisive in selecting my blip this evening, with a distracting evening sky not helping. I finally settled on this (Small?) Skipper, which I came across just before sundown perched on a foxglove.
As wings are the most celebrated and recognisable feature of a butterfly, it's fun to have those out of frame, and to focus on the characterful 'face'.

Earlier, I saw my first Small Tortoiseshell since Resilient back in early June. It's feared that the wet weather has badly effected the breeding cycle of these, so it was nice to see at least one of a new brood emerging.
