Taking the Piss: Chivalry is not Dead

The tale of a single man, walking amongst mere mortals.

When a Wooloongabba local decides to stumble into your front yard and urinates on your letterbox (in full view of the office) there are a few things that come to mind immediately... Who is going to get the mail next? How many times has this happened before? We need to get a PO box.

Comments of disgust were flying thick and fast... 'If there is anything in there for me, burn it' or 'Only courier things to me from now on'.

Many a man wouldn't even bother arguing the fact that chivalry is dead. But I can think of one overalled man who would not only argue differently but would stick it whoever would make such an outrageous statement, man himself with a gerni and take action into his own hands. That man is Southern Cross Austereo's own Kurt Colin Allison.

There comes a time in every man's life when he needs to take back the piss. For Kurt, that day was today. No shining armour needed; awkwardly tight overalls would do just fine, on a cold August morning. But after hearing about Ikon Brisbane's golden issue on Facebook, the man volunteered to take matters into his own hands. It went a little something like this.

From: Kurt Allison Sent: Tue 31/07/2012 5:12 PM

Considering a receptionist hasn't started yet it would be easy to just let it slide and just direct all mail to the front door but considering I am about living and breathing the Southern Cross Austereo Values (Exceptional Customer Service) I feel it is my duty to get that letterbox clean.

To clarify, don't rush out and book someone to come in and clean it or heaven forbid put the gloves on yourselves, that's what I am here for...

I'll be around tomorrow in the morning with my overalls, face mask, gloves and high pressure gerni to clean that letterbox like new.

So a massive thank you to Kurt. Your chivalry, gentlemanly values, courage and awkwardly tight overalls were very appreciated. But we need the gutters cleaned as well.
