Night Heron

These guys hang out at one of the fish-cleaning stations at the harbor. Today there were three of them hunkered around, waiting. Each bird sports a charming long thin white head-feather, just a wisp to toss around.

We also saw a huge eucalyptus tree full of nesting herons--I've never seen (or heard) so many in one spot. Lots of zooming in and out, presumably adults bringing in food. And what a racket! I assume it was the young ones clamoring for their meals, and what loud voices they had.
I'm including Extras of the heron tree, just because I'm amazed I got any recognizable shots from so far away.
