Gifts of Grace

By grace

Ancient mariner? Plus Sufi angels.

The murk continues.
Passes for high summer these days.
This poor becalmed chap had the look of the ancient mariner.
Or a ghost boat.

Otherwise I've returned to working with the 99 Names.
Today's name was Ya Halim - the tender love that exists everywhere without exception.  This is part of the reading:

One of the most famous hadiths [reports of the prophet's teachings] is about when there is a ring or circle, a halak - for example , a circle of people who are doing dhikr [also pronounced [b]zikr[/b]].  It is said there is a ring of angels, wing to wing.  Some people can see this.  From on high the sakeenah ["An inner peace that descends like rain upon the hearts of those who are agitated"] flows down upon them and into the hearts of the people in the circle.

One of the companions asked if even somebody who comes to do something like borrow a cup of milk gets the sakeenah from God.  Prophet Muhammed said even those persons who had no idea what they were doing in the circle received the sakeenah.

Al Halim allows us to let this quality [sakeenah] in.

Such a joy to have the truth of my very first encounter with the Zikr affirmed and explicated after all these years.

Oh and last night I dreamt that Sufi sheiks were doing sacred body work rituals on me as I recounted the cruelties of childhood!  Good to know they're on the case.  Feels connected to reaching out for support yesterday.
