Sigiriya

Sigiriya may just look like a big rock sticking out of the ground. Indeed, I'd never heard of this place before today, but it didn't take long to figure out why it is a designated World Heritage site.

On top of this rock are the ruins of a King Kashyapa's palace who ruled this island in the 5th century. It predates Machu Pichu and Siem Reap by a millennium or so.
