Saturday 4 August 2012: Scarecrows!

This weekend is the annual scarecrow display in Torteval (one of the ten parishes in the island). It's all in aid of the Torteval church funds, and there were 49 entries in this event, with each "scarecrow" based at someone's house or field. The event has happened annually for a few years now, but it's the first time I've actually gone to see them. It was quite impressive, and looks like a lot of people have enjoyed making these things, many of which are quite humorous and topical. This was one that appealed to my sense of humour. There were plenty more but maybe some other Guernsey blippers will post them!

By the way, the wording in the photo is "Caw, hang, he was a big crow - must have come from Jersey him"
