Tall ship

The lurking cold has indeed broke through and I'm feeling very sorry for myself. Not the best state to have another flight tomorrow even if it is only 7 hours this time. And I was so looking forward to being in Singapore again, but not if it means feeling warm and sweaty and ill. I will stop ranting and being miserable in a moment but I've got to tell how just as we were sitting quietly in our hotel room having some tea and biscuits the PA system came on to tell us that they were doing a fire drill and we all had to evacuate, and that (obviously for a fire drill) we couldn't take the lifts. Now if somebody had told us beforehand about this I could have made myself sparse before the drill. Now I had to walk down 13 stories of stairs with my healing knee, one step at a time. Almost down a lady in a hard hat was telling us that it was only an exercise, thanks for joining in and if I had trouble walking I could take the lift !!! We continued down getting to the final fire exit door. Not a soul in sight. We walk up to the hotel entrance, no other people standing there except hotel guests arriving and leaving. Inside not a lot of people either and no sign of a serious fire drill. So we walk up to the front desk to ask if the fire drill has ended  and if we can get back to our room and 'Oh yes' says the desk manager, "it was just a test of the PA system and the alarm mainly". Didn't know if I had to laugh or swear ! OK, rant over.

Derk's work was finished yesterday so we had a day to do something together and we had a walk through the Crown casino just to have a look (what an amazing enormous place, I've never seen so many slot machines in my life) and then a walk along the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. Which is where you can also find this tall ship, the Polly Woodside

Thank you so much for all your comments, stars and even a fave for mr octopus. No more comments from me , I'm afraid. I think I'll make myself something like a hot toddy and go to bed very early to try and sweat this out. More tomorrow from Singapore
