Saturday 4 August 2012: Putting on my top hat

These are the possibly the most distinguished security guards in the UK. They can be found looking after the Argyll Arcade in Glasgow, which has a number of jewellery shops. They're never seen without their top hat and tails. Always impeccably turned out.

I caught them just before 6pm when the Arcade was about to close (so as not to distract them) and they danced for me, pretended to kiss each other behind their hats, and then settled down to pose for me.

I'm now home briefly, watching it pour down, wondering what the Jamaican Beach Party I'm going to in a couple of hours is going to be like...hoping it's an indoor beach...it promises reggae, Caribbean food, calypso and limbo dancing in aid of charity.

Other news...I bought a second hand telephoto 100-300mm lens to squish my frustration about non-zooming facilities. Am also thinking of going for a second hand highly recommended portrait lens....watch this space.
