Skiing

Sunday, so yes, skiing again!

During the week I made the decision to withdraw Adam from the course he was in. The instructor didn't quite seem in tune with younger kids, he was too busy being cool and filming, and (IMHO) spending way too little time teaching the kids! Luckily, Adam was placed with another instructor, who has a "more structured approach". Pleased to say, that James is brilliant, just what Adam needed. He came away having learned some new skills, and was inspired, and there are still many Sundays to go. Brilliant. And yes, and in this photo he's showing me how to ski chutes and do short turns. Much easier when you have skis as short as his, but I'm still able to show him a move or two, thankfully!

Lots of new snow this week, but, it came down with a lot of moisture. That's code for saying it was crusty, verging on icy, in places. But, skiing around the mountain you found the good spots, and there were many to be honest. It was warm, warm, warm, so Big Mama was skiing well, in very spring like conditions. Funny. Adam and I skied it, and in all seriousness he said he didn't think it was steep. It has a vertical of around 700m (2000 ft) in a single run. That's steep, and long. Clearly he's becoming more competent!

All up, a great day in the hills. Worth the 6.45am Sunday arising! Although, I was disappointed in not seeing NZ's first building implosion, luckily it's online ;-)
