Monday 6 August 2012: To the hills!
There's a serious side to Port Appin in as much as I attempt to model scenes of the 60's with vehicles and cameos that could (not would) have been seen around that area.
Here, hikers board a Ski Bus of the type operated by Highland of Inverness and used to take them to Aviemore and up into the Cairngorms. 1952 Leyland Royal Tiger ECK588 came from Ribble of Preston and was modified to take skis in a rear compartment - like this model. It lasted with Highland until 1971/2. There's a Flickr link of the real thing here...
The rest is fantasy...
This Port Appin model in West Coast Motors livery operates on a route to White Corries Ski Lift in Glencoe.
