Monday 6 August 2012: Celebrating gold
I'm a little late with this blip, but this is the first chance I've had to visit the Golden Postbox on Hanover Street in Edinburgh.
Every time Team GB win a gold medal, the Royal Mail paint a postbox gold in their home city. This one is to celebrate Sir Chris Hoy's medal from the team sprint with Phillip Hindes and Jason Kenny.
It was a fantastic performance and I really wanted to visit the postbox.
Apparently Chris Hoy is also to be awarded the Freedom of Edinburgh in recognition of his Olympic achievements. It's the City's highest honour, dating back to 1459. He will become the 6th living freeman of the City.
