Monday 6 August 2012: The Alcoholic Refectory
It really is the end of an era. Not only did the unofficial student union of Aberdeen College, The Lochside Bar, close down over a year ago, today I went in and it is being completely demolished! Apparently it's the last granite building left on Gerrard Street, which is quite sad. I wonder why no-one bought it and turned it into something nice?
Now, as a sensible staff member I never ever went into the bar for a drink myself but I've lost count of the amount of times it was used as a location in my students' films over the year.
I'm sure for many ex-Aberdeen College students it will live on in their hearts and memories. Sad.
