Smugglers Cave

After C saw the waterfall picture I blipped yesterday he begged me to take him up to Alva Glen today, so we set off at about 11am. For more pics see my blipfolio

We got about half way along the Glen and sat and had our picnic in the middle of the stream, which was idyllic and then we set off to get to the top.

When we got to the top we decided to get adventurous and go down into Smuggler's Cave.

It was a bit risky and the paths very narrow and a bit slippery but we made it down OK and took some photographs, had a cup of coffee out of our flask (well prepared this time) and some chocolate.

Then the rain started. Heavily. We sheltered in the Smuggler's Cave for a while and it was all threatening to get abit Bear Grylls. C didn't fancy spending the night in Smuggler's Cave. Neither did I to be honest, but I had to do the whole brave dad thing and pretend I'd be quite happy to bed down there for the night.

Anyway, after waiting for the rain to go off for a while we headed up the rocky paths and finally emerged back at the top of the Glen after a hair raising climb.

(If C's mum ever finds out what he was climbing up and clambering over in the rain this afternoon she'll kill me so keep it to yourself!)

We got home and dried off and chilled out and watched Miranda and Thor, both pretty exhausted.
