Tuesday 7 August 2012: Blencathra Framed

We had a walk alongside Derwent Water today from Portinscale, stopping for lunch on the shore at Otterbield Bay.

As we tucked into our sandwiches two swans came to visit one of which was rather braver than the other.

Ignoring memories of warnings that a swan could break my arm I managed to get a few pictures while keeping it interested with cheese and onion crisps.

After the swans left we saw a man paddling his kayak around the bay with a dog standing on the front deck, the dog was a world record holder called Charlie aged 13 who had got his record for balancing on the deck of a kayak on a journey from the English coast to the Isle of Man. I suspect Young1 will be blipping that picture but she is always a couple of days behind and is being secretive as usual!
