Buttermere

A brilliant walk first thing from the apartment to Latrigg first thing. Sparkling weather and good visibility. Lots of people around enjoying a lovely Sunday morning.

Our first call was at Whinlatter, a Forestry Commission site which was buzzing with walkers and mountain bikers. Enjoyed a nice bowl of soup and scone for lunch.

Then it was a scenic drive to Buttermere to take Doreen in the wheelchair to see the iconic view of the lake at Fletwith Pike from the northern end of the lake. From his journal appears Blipper Trevorearthy was also at Buttermere today. We noticed there was a lot of activity on the lake, turns out that yesterday was the Buttermere Triathalon and today a 10k swim twice around the lake.

From there it was on to Loweswater, a favourite place of Trevorearthy and Chloe. We were looking for another Miles without Stiles track suitable for wheelchairs but try as we might we couldn't find the start at Maggie's Bridge. The leaflet said start wasn't signposted from the main road but gave no further information, except at grid reference but I hadn't got the right map with me.Shame we weren't able to find the location, but it was a beautiful afternoon in spectacular scenery. Perhaps later on in the week?
