Thursday 9 August 2012: Park Church Tower

Park Church Tower is one of Glasgow's great architectural landmarks. Located in the Park Circus district of Glasgow you can view this beautiful white tower from various parts of the city.

Park Parish Church was designed by John Thomas Rochead and built between 1856 and 1858. The church was demolished in 1969 by hand due to fears that bulldozers might damage the tower. The tower remains an important landmark especially in conjunction with Trinity College towers. In this morning light it looks stunning against the blue sky.
