Too good to eat?

Tonight I was treated to my very first traditional Japanese dinner which involved an interesting assortment of courses. This beautifully presented offering came somewhere in the middle & was served in a gorgeous wooden  lacquer box. It almost seemed too lovely to eat...almost...

Despite a tremendous amount of courses each one was so diverse & interesting I simply couldn't resist! :) Great food! Great hospitality! Great start :)
