White Ghyll

A great day out in Langdale today with Fairweathergirl (who got the best blip!). We headed into White Ghyll to practise some steep ground work - and boy is it steep. Usually this fantastic venue is the realm of the rock climber - but today we saw not a soul as we worked our way higher and higher, stopping to practise some emergency rope techniques and doing a little navigation along the way.
FWG has come a long way on her journey to become a Scouting & Girl Guiding mountain leader - and today it was a real pleasure to see her demonstrating the skills required so well.

In the shelter of the Ghyll it was a real suntrap - but when we emerged onto the tops there was enough bite in the wind to remind us that a change is coming, but tomorrow's forecast is great - so that'll do for now.
