Saturday 11 August 2012: Catching the sun
...in a narrow street this morning, on my way back from buying mussels at the coquillage van.
Last night's jazz at St Thibéry was great. It was lovely to sit outside in the crowded place as the heat of the day turned into a warm evening, with the friends who lent us their garden for our party, eating good food from the well-run stalls - moules marinière, grilled pork with the Catalan speciality pan amb tomaqet, local wine, especially a very nice rosé - and listening to music by local band Soleil Nomade and American Teena Lyle's Vibes in Motion. The latter has settled in this area and plays a lot around here now although we remember seeing her 20 years ago when she played with Van Morrison. The changeovers between the main acts were enlivened by our friend Ray (who played with his band at our party) leading Les Sourdines à l'Huile.
