Saturday 11 August 2012: Mishka
Imagine my delight when a friend called to tell me that a work colleague of hers (who sometimes peeps at my journal over her shoulder) had commissioned my first portrait!
'Commissioned' meaning I take some pictures in exchange for lunch. I'm cheap.
I was a tad crestfallen when I was informed it wasn't going to be a human. But when I met Mishka I realised she was a beauty queen of the doggy world and warmed up to the idea. Mishka's eight months old, had a very placid nature, and posed patiently for all her shots.
She has a huge sister called Bella who is a six month old Newfoundland who was practically my size already. I had to negotiate Bella slobbering all over my lens and putting her paws on my shoulders while trying to take pictures; sibling rivalry! Bella had just been for a long walk so wasn't looking her best but I may be back in future for another free lunch to take some shots of her. Never work with children and animals they say - but I'd work with Mishka any day for free.
