On the Beach at Carskey Bay

13.9C with sunny sunshine all day long. Fluffy white clouds. Cool clear air. Light Easterly breeze increasing to moderate ESE/SE in the afternoon.

Grocery shopping over by mid morning. Maeve the Deerhound stayed at home.

We went the ten miles or so South to Southend then followed the road round past Dunaverty beach to Carskey Bay where we had a walk with Maeve from one end of the beach to the other and back. The air has felt cooler and clearer this weekend and the view over to the Antrim coast of Northern Ireland was very good. There were small waves breaking on the beach so Maeve didn't paddle, but she did get her paws wet once or twice wandering along the edge of the water when a wave ran up the sand. One seal popped up to see us near the shore cottages at the far end of the beach and there were lots of gulls. Not so many gannets.

No seals out on the rocks at Keil.

On the way to Southend we had checked the farm stand for Little Farm. More or less empty. Maybe they had a good day of sales yesterday but there was nothing left for us today.

With afternoon tea there were squares of Lemon sponge with soft icing.

Later Apothecary7 was painting.

Afternoon music ... BBC Radio 2.
