Aye Yai Yai Yai!

Hey Romeo!
Let's go down to Mexico
Chase senoritas
Drink ourselves silly
Show them Mexican girls
A couple of real hillbillies
Got a pocket full of cash
And that old Ford truck
A fuzzy cat hangin
From the mirror for luck
Said don't you know
All those little
Brown-eyed girls
Want playboys of the southwestern world

Not quite 'Playboys of the Southwestern World', but hey, Ged Clampett and his fat bro' drove into London from Bristol for the day for their Olympic football fest. Whilst the Latin American atmosphere and Samba rhythms in and out of the ground were amazing, the football itself in the end was not quite what we hoped for. The game ended Mexico 2 Brazil 1, which was fair, as only the Mexicans turned up. Their first gold medal of London 2012 it seems. I videoed one of the many Mexican Waves, which was probably the highlight - that along with the serenading Mexican choruses of Cielito Lindo (the one that goes "Aye Yai Yai Yai, Canta y no llores" (sing and don't cry).

The day started auspiciously enough, as we drove along the M4 into Hammersmith and parked to go and get the Tube to Wembley. Lo and behold the very first people we ran into on the platform was Kevin and his 3 boys (Kevin being the same next door-but-one neighbour from Knutsford who I had offered to sell our Final tickets, only the other night). Kevin had the haunted look of a stalked man about him, until I reassured him of the coincidence. What are the odds of that happening I wonder?

As a related aside, Martin once went for some UV treatment in hospital on his skin. On his arrival, and after stripping butt-naked, he announced to the assembled female nurses that he had come for his "Brazillian" (he had confused this with a 'St. Tropez' all-over spray tan).
