Common Garden Spider

Firs I'd like to thank everyone for the faves and stars for yesterday's blip it seems to have proved popular. I'd now like to apologise in case this blip is a bit much for anyone - though I should stress it's less than 10 mm from end to end at the moment - it will be another month before it's full size...

Very busy day today. After breakfast we went for a bike ride. No punctures today and overall a very nice ride. We're not back up to full fitness so it was only 29 km at an average of 20.8 km/h with a maximum of 57.1 km/h.

After the bike ride we fed a lot of branches into a munching machine turning them into rough mulch. We then went up to our little orchard to trim the grass, dig up any weeds and mulch the trees. We spotted some nice butterflies on the way but they wouldn't open their wings for the camera. We also collected out first plum (just one) but it was very nice.

When we got back we had some ice cream (it always cheers you up) and then tested out a new bit of camping kit we picked up at Decathlon yesterday. That worked okay and then we tackled the wisteria which is growing like a weed and flowering like mad...

I then went out with the camera to see what I could find while the light was out and soon it will be time for a relaxing bath.

A few possible blips for today, more bees and some flower heads but this common garden spider or cross spider (Araneus diadematus) came out best. It's very small less than 10 mm at the moment and doing essential pest extermination in the flower beds, so don't worry!
