Monday 13 August 2012: Visual tank inspection
On chemical tankers it's daily routine to have a tank inspection prior to loading. On gas carriers this is not a daily task.
A visual tank inspection will only be required when the last carried cargo is incompatible with the next cargo.
In our case from Propane to Butadiene. Both the chief officer and surveyor were satisfied about the cleanliness. After the tanklids are hermetic tight (gas tight) the purging with nitrogen will commence.
