Monday 13 August 2012: Chillies Galore

West Dean Gardens and College has an annual Chilli Fiesta, this year it falls on the August Bank Holiday weekend. West Dean grows over 300 varieties of chilli in their glass houses. The Fiesta has all manner of chilli-related stalls, artifacts and events, including cooking demonstrations by cookery expert Rosemary Moon.

Called in today for tea, to see fiesta preparations in hand. These cream to orange to scarlet chillies are Missile Red, named for their shape rather than their digestive effect. I hope.

Go large if you dare:)

In the background you can see the beginning of the West Dean parkland and the foot of the South Downs.
