A blessing and a curse

It's a name with history. It has distinction, a little foreign mystery and a few adjacent vowels that don't trip off the British tongue.

There are unkind translations (Pants house being the most amusing) and, when I was a teacher, there were a multitude of different ways in which it can be misspelt, mispronounced or used as the basis for daft nicknames - Mister Kalashnikov being the most ludicrous although I secretly liked the dangerous edge it gave me.

Most of all though, when you're 8 at least, it just has a lot of bloody letters.
