As seen by me...

Dear RAF...

Dear RAF,

As much as the sight of 2 Hawks flying over my house is very welcome indeed it's considerably less of a celebration of the British Military than a pair of Typhoon's and Tornado's lighting the afterburners in unison over the city. It's the airforce equivalent of the Army marching down the mile in slippers for fear of upsetting someone with the sound of their noisy boots at the Armed Forces day.

You've taken the wrong course of action here, instead of appeasing "easily upset of Portobello" you should have flew over their house the next day with 6 Tornado's, pointed the noses skywards and opened the afterburners, after that you could have flew anything over their house it would have seemed like an improvement.

Since when did the RAF pander to the type of person who complains "we thought we were being bombed what with the Olympics and that"? Seriously, how can anyone, let alone the great defender of these shores take that seriously?

So please, lets not worry about A. Moaner of Portobello and their shaking ornaments, lets show the tourists a sight to remember and get those Typhoos and Tornado's back on full afterburner and put on a show!

Yours,
A normal person who understands these planes will fly over at 9pm every night (7.30 on a Saturday and a day off on Sunday) and won't phone the police proclaiming that World War 3 has broken out and spoiled my enjoyment of Midsomer Murders...
