Fields of Gold

Fields of Barley (Hordeum vulgare) are now shimmering gold as the grain ripens - miraculously, I always think, given the amount of rain (last night's downpour is testified in the puddle seen here) and the overall lack of sunshine in these parts.

This is the same field (beside the B977 road south of Dunecht, Aberdeenshire) where, on 28th September each year, I photographed harvest scenes of 2010 and 2011.
