What did I see today...?

By DaveR

A sprinkling of rain..

It got a little damp today, but it didn't stop it being a pleasant day's walk (Autumn has struck, see extra photo one) and in fact I quite enjoyed the little spell of what was actually rain - it was very handy for identifying the different pilgrim groups - lots of the new groups all ran for cover, pulling on waterproofs or waiting for the rain to pass on, but the more experienced pilgrims just shrugged and ploughed on - most already waterproof from the off.

Melide was the midway point of today's trip and that meant dining on the best pulpo in Spain again, something I very much enjoyed (with a little beer too, see extra photo two). Then it was a far hillier hike than I remembered to Ribadiso where everyone is either in the Xunta or the private hostel, and all the pilgrims ate in the only place in the village - where we also marked a 60th birthday on the Way.
