First NZ insect

I discovered last night that I was sharing my bedroom with some impressive insects. Sadly, they are from a group I've never managed to like - cockroaches. This is a Gisborne Cockroach, with cream stripes down the side. The species was introduced with timber from Australia and is now quite widespread, being moved around by cars as it has a liking for the engine compartments. I notice the cats are catching them tonight - great!
