A Dog's Dinner

The Pirate Princess or how Ruaridh .....

.....saved the day.

We popped over to Kyle of Lochalsh this morning for a swim and a general mess around, well ' the girls' were swimming and I was messin' around.

The Wonder Dog and myself decided that we would have a stroll around the harbour to kill a half hour or so. On our way back Ruaridh decided that we had to go past the vets. He's had an ongoing infatuation with Alan the Vet since he was a puppy and insists that we've got to visit him on as many occasions as possible. So he pulled and pulled, until he was choking and I was slipping all over the place, until eventually he got his own way and, as usual, he rushed at the door and barged his way in.

Now this came as a bit of a surprise as this is the part time surgery and wasn't due to open for another four hours but we went in only to discover it was empty! We shouted and had a look but no vet, in fact nobody at all, it was the Marie Celeste of surgeries!

I called the main office who told me that the vet had suddenly taken ill the night before and must have forgotten to lock up. Obviously His Highness the Prince of Pups instinctively knew that and stepped in to save the day and save the vets drug cupboard from marauding pirates. Much praise was followed by much wagging of tails when we met later.

As Bella the Buccaneer said, while she was beating off the best the British Navy, 'Ruaridh is a hero'

Well you can't argue with that!
