Saturday 18 August 2012: Nancy and Graffenstaden
This is a picture dedicated to Dirk B., a colleague of mine.
The old 24 MegaWatt gasturbine of unit EC 20 (called Nancy) was his child and is for sale now....
He asked me why I don't Blip Nancy so often.
I did that once (look here) but she doesn't look so Blipworthy anymore.
You're looking at the "Graffenstaden" gearbox between the gasturbine and the alternator, which reduces the 5000 rpm of the gasturbine to 3000 rpm of the alternator.
It's a bit worn out now.... maybe next time I try to picture the old "Detroit" diesel which is used to start up the Nancy but the lights are down inside the enclosure....
Better in LARGE....
