Into The Unknown

Mini Team GB

So much happening in Swanage this week as it is Lifeboat week. Today teams had to make boats out of marine ply in four hours then see if they were seaworthy.
Then the highlight was the raft race . The vessels, if you can call them that, set off from the beach, sailed around the lifeboat, collected a damsel in distress from the Quay and then rowed back to the beach. All the floats were brilliant- setting off, several overturned and we were treated to a bare bum as a sailor lost his shorts!
I really liked the Swallows and Amazons feel to this raft which was sailed by a group of very young and enthusiastic pirates who had named their raft Team GB.
The great Lifeboat is in the background.
