Coffico Cardiff

Today's meeting wasn't until lunchtime, so we had the morning to ourselves, albeit with a bit of work to do. Rather then go into Cardiff's city centre, we decided to go and find something a bit more quirky or at least independent.

The Minx suggested we head out to Cardiff Bay, which I was happy to go along with, although I had some doubts as we drove around the roads that eventually led to the Doctor Who exhibition; there was nothing that looked very promising, in fact there wasn't much at all.

However, the Minx's instincts were spot on; just opposite the exhibition was a coffee shop made out of old shipping containers! The coffee was great and we spent the morning there, doing a bit of email, and looking out over the bay. (I took this photo from just across the road. I guess these are the supports for an old pier or similar.)

Post script: This from my friend, Manse, on Facebook.

"Hi Fenner - Those wooden structures are mooring dolphins - before the barrage was built and Cardiff Yacht Club was moved, my Dad's yacht (not as grand as it sounds) was moored very close to these. Before the barrage, most of this area dryed out to stinky mudflats, with small channels of water running through them. Proper stinky!

Dolphins, in case you wondered, are used to help ships moor and berth, usually in conjunction with a nearby pier. "
