The Kiltwalk

The Great Wall and the Sexual Fudge!!

It's a bizarre line of work this old Kiltwalk Blipfoto stuff as who would ever have thought I would be discussing Sexual Fudge!! . . . more on that later.

The main purpose of today's photo is to provide an update on The Great Wall of China Kiltwalk event in general and the fantastic fund raising efforts of Karen Wells Smith in particular.

The Great Wall Kiltwalk takes place in September this year and despite a late date change, we still have three people who will be walking the Great Wall for The Kiltwalk. Karen will be joined by Iain Meiklejohn, who has already walked several Hampden to Loch Lomond events and Craig McFarlane who is also a veteran Kiltwalker and if you have never seen Craig, you will most certainly have heard him as he is the Kiltwalker who plays the Bagpipes for the entire 26 miles along with Spud the Piper.

I first met Karen at the Speyside Kiltwalk, where along with some of her "bestie's", who have featured several times across our Blipfoto and Facebook pages, she took part in our first Speyside event.

I say met at the Speyside Kiltwalk, however it would be more accurate to say we actually met in the pub, after the event, but hey that's what pubs are for are they not?

It was while having a well earned refreshment, (Karen, not me) Karen mentioned quite casually that she was taking part in the China event, almost as casually as if she was telling me she was walking to the shops. Suffice to say I wasn't letting Karen out of my Blipfoto Mind as I had "plans for her".

Karen, supported by her family and fantastic friends has been busy fund raising up in Speyside where she has been organising and attending events on a regular basis with her collection of cakes, goodies and rattling can all with the aim of reaching her target of £2,750 that will go to The Kiltwalk.

Having seen the generosity of Speyside from the Kiltwalk event back in May, where we're on course to raise £100,000 then it's no surprise to hear that Karen has raised over £1,600 so far.

"So what's the Sexual Fudge thing all about Ian?" I hear you all impatiently ask. Well it appears that one of Karen's friends bakes/cooks/makes "Sexual Fudge" and the word on the street is that it is going down a treat on Speyside.

The question I have for Karen is "are the three of you making the aforementioned fudge in the picture above" and given that smile you have on your face "have you just tried some" :-)

So remember the '"plans" I said I have for Karen?

Well my cunning plan was to ask Karen to be our eyes, ears and thoughts from the Great China Kiltwalk so if the technology allows, she is going to attempt to Kiltwalk Blog her way across the Great Wall and provide pictures also. Of course she wouldn't be a good fundraiser if she didn't want something back and that "something back" will benefit The Kiltwalk as she has asked me to mention that if you would like to help Karen reach her target, you can donate via her justgiving dot com /Karen-Smith29 page where she is thankful for any donation large or small.

I'm sure we'll dig as deep as we can to help raise funds for their collective efforts and I'm sure that with the Kiltwalk Flag Ian has had made (see Facebook for picture), Craig's Bagpipes and Karen's "Sexual Fudge" then China and the Great Wall are going to love them all :-)

We have been particularly busy over the last few weeks organising the Angus Kiltwalk and the 2013 events, so look out for more regular Blipfoto posts now we're getting back in the groove again.
