Aysgarth Falls, Wensleydale

With the daylight house being so short we had an early start and walked along the river Ure to see the Aysgarth falls, the upper, middle and lower ones! My blip is of the former! After a nice warming coffee in the pretty village of Askrigg we were ready for a longer walk through a mature beech woods above another river valley to Whitfield Gill, there were three large waterfalls along the way.
The day seems to have a rather watery theme as later we just had enough daylight to walk to the waterfall at Hardraw or Hardraw Force as it's known, apparently the longest free fall waterfall England.
