Metalwork

Our super fabulous museum hosted Experience Metal Weekend in their outdoor courtyard. Many local artists were on hand to lead workshops or demos of their particular crafts: jewelry making, welding, junk metal art, wire art, pewter casting and embossing. Visitors could take structured workshops or just sit down and play at the collaborative metal quilt table, where each person's creation was added to a big wire grid that shimmered in the sun. Lots of loud banging echoed off the neighboring walls, underscored with the more subtle oohs and aahs of the participants. A lovely warm afternoon of experimenting with some new tools and materials. This little piece, about three inches tall, was added to the community grid after a little more embellishment.
