Beaumaris Castle, Anglesey

A day for a drive around Anglesey. Starting with a trip over the original Menai bridge.

We started with a visit to Beaumaris Castle which is another Edward I castle. This one was never fully finished as money ran out so the outer walls are shorter than planned. It is a beautiful looking castle with turrets to climb and walls to walk. There are also views across the Menai straight. The children were introduced to crabbing off the new Beaumaris pier. Nothing was caught as tide went out too rapidly but they seemed to enjoy it!

Then a drive up to Red Wharf where my dad caravanned as a child with his parents, then across to the other side of the island before an evening meal at Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. An all too brief visit but one that has whet our appetites for a return!

A wet and foggy drive back to Lleyn but worth it for the nice day out.

Day 1: Kite Flying
Day 2: Caernarfon Castle
Day 3: Surf jumping
Day 4: Ffestiniog Railway
Day 5: Aberdaron
