Closing down
Walking down to collect the Christmas tree, we saw a sign pointing towards some light industrial units amd suggesting that if we went round the corner we woukd find a bakery. Having only just managed to extricate himself from bed in time to come with me so as to carry the tree back, M was rather hungry and we decided to investigate.
It did not look promising: two rows of single-story units, mostly with metal shutters down; a motley collection of vans parked on the tarmac between them. At the end, another sign claiming there was a bakery and that it was open. We walked across, and found a solid, narrow red door and yet another sign, this time proclaiming OPEN.
A treasure hunt? Alice in Wonderland? Bluebeard's Castle?
Reader, we opened the door and found....
Daniel's Bakery, North Sands, Leith. Closing next week due to poor trading.
In spite of their totally delicious breads, tarts, pastries...
