New Day. New Picture

Over The Sea To Skye

Loaded car with walking kit/food etc and headed off for a long drive from Edinburgh to Skye.
Took the quickest route (A9) which bypasses the scenic Glen Coe as as meeting up with my good friend C at Kyle of Lochalsh.
But hey, once you turn off the A9 onto the A87, heading by the sides of Loch Cluanie and Loch Duich, mountains either side, is pretty damn impressive. And then Eilean Donan Castle springs into view, perched out on a small island on the loch. Wow!
Probably one of the iconic views of Scotland.

And what a day it was. Glorious blue skies.

After a rendezvous and lunch in Kyle, headed across the Skye bridge to Sconser to get the short ferry ride to Skye's neighbouring island Raasay. There were about 10 other cars waiting consisting a few tourists but I get mainly locals.
Wasn't sure what to expect of Raasay. Very green and very quiet. Effectively has one "road"... well track!
Had no real plan (C and I never have most people would call a plan. We're both pretty laid back and like plans to be minimal :-)
So the plan worked perfectly. Got to the end of the track - didn't see much sign of life except the sheep.
Abandonded the car and scouted out a campsite.
Perfect... slightly sheltered area, cliff top, with stunning views looking NW to Skye. No one for miles.

Got the tent pitched, started cooking food, cracked open the wine, and settled down for a good chin wag and to watch a fab sunset.

Great start.

Next few days has more pictures of Raasay/Skye with lots more on my blipfolio Skye Folio 1 and
Skye Folio 2
