Busy being a tourist

A splendid tourist day in London.

Morning at the Geffrye Museum, leisurely lunch, visit to the wonderful Wild Planet photographs at the Nature History Museum and finally a fantastic evening at the Royal Geographic Society celebrating the fact that on 22nd August 1812 JL Burckhardt rediscovered the city of Petra in Jordan. Matthew Teller told us about Burckhardt and his travels in Jordan, and the RGS brought out some of their splendid collection of artefacts from the Middle East including some of Burckhardt's papers for us to look at.
