A bit abstract
It being Abstract Thursday, I thought I would try my hand. This is a tree covered with strings of tiny white lights, the image taken from the open window of a moving car and edited to increase the lack of clarity.
Last night we attended the winter concert by the Seattle Men's Chorus, one of the first and largest gay men's choral groups in the US. They are a marvelous group of extremely well trained singers with great voices whose holiday shows we've gone to for several years. They are joyful, rich and funny, with a range of holiday music, from "Silver Bells" to "Go Tell It on the Mountain" to "I Spent Chanukah in Santa Monica," and dancing as well. A great experience every time we go.
37 years ago, when the Chorus was formed, this was a lonely world for gays. The group offered a place for gay men to get together to do something they all enjoyed, to have a sense of belonging, and to meet new friends in a safe environment. Now there are 300 members of the Men's Chorus, and there is a Women's Chorus with 200 members, and the concerts are always sold out.
