The Mantle Plume under Iceland
We were talking about hot water in Iceland the other day and the Icelandic TV has just shown two films called Journey to the center of the Planet with Richard Hammond. In it he visited Iceland to make some things clear.
A few years back I made this in the 3D Studio Max (a 3D computer program) for a science program on Icelandic TV - it is a frame from the movie - and I thought it a good idea to show you why we have hot water in Iceland, because the country sits on this giant mantle plume... or hot spot.
