Thistle Down

Snakes

Watch out for snakes,
My mother said to me.
Make light your steps,
And turn your eyes to see.

For the rattler kind,
Arouses up with knocks.
And he is apt to bite,
As you walk among the rocks.

Go forth...and climb your hills,
But keep your foot in sight.
For rattlers sometimes lurk,
and he rears up to bite.

With embedded fangs,
Down in their head.
They squirt real poison,
And make you dead.

So be on the...look-out,
Ere your steps begin.
Be watchful for snakes,
And watchful for sin.
