Sweet Love

O to have a sweet love,
Just like him.
Who feasted with his eyes,
Who was not plump nor slim.

Who was courteous and kind,
And mannerly, too.
Whose traits were very happy,
And whose faults were very few.

Who stood apart with ease,
When ere he had to stand.
And the things that needed doing,
He lent a helping hand.

Who treated little children,
And me...like cherry wine.
And knew that home and everything,
Was only partly mine.

O to have a sweet love,
Whose love he tries to show.
And in his thoughtful words to me,
He often told me so.
