The Famous Five

Smith, Johnstone, Reilly, Turnbull and Ormond-- the Famous Five forward line of Hibs in the 1950s. Their names live on in the North Stand at Easter Road named after them. I never saw them play -they were slightly before my time - but they were part of the last Hibs' team to win the Scottish Championship. Like many others of course they failed to win a Scotttish Cup.
I did watch GordonSmith in his later years when he was a member of the great Dundee side of the sixties. Sadly only Lawrie Reilly survives and he is still a regular at Easter Road.
Todays players are unlikely to be remembered as long as the Famous Five but at least they are continuing to effect some progress in our recovery with a hard fought ,if unspectacular 2-0 win over St Johnstone.
A top of the table clash with Celtic next week!
