Peninsula Light

Neist Point and the lighthouse, on the Isle of Skye, on a wild windy day.

There were next to no Students that came back yesterday, so taking a day's leave today seemed a sensible move. NG and RS had similar thoughts, and we decided to head off to Skye for the weekend. Forecast meant sea kayaking wouldn't be wise, so a more gentle meander about places ashore, and much less kit to squeeze in/on the car.

Gale force winds here had the burns flowing off the cliffs near Waterstein Head becoming "chimneys," with the water being stopped by the wind, blowing into the air, and way back to the land behind. Big waves on the sea, with lots of spray. Clothing - layers galore, and a hang on to your hat kind of day.

Extras:
- "Chimneys" from those smaller burns being blown back by the wind. Even the big burn and associated waterfall was being stopped by some of the gusts.
- An t-Aigeach, or "The Stallion" - large lump of rock before the lighthouse. The light was easy to see flashing to the naked eye, but not at all through the viewfinder. Try as I might, couldn't manage to catch it flashing "on" in any of a load of attempts. Too long a shutter delay with this camera, alas.
- Waterstein Head.
- N & R plus the lighthouse... perhaps not the best composition!
